Meet the Admin Team

Dr. Cort-Mora, Principal - Island Coast High School Dr. Michelle Cort-Mora, Principal

Dr. Cort-Mora is the Principal of Island Coast High School.  She is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts from which she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, she also holds an MBA in Finance, a Specialist in School Administration, and a Doctorate in School Administration with a concentration in Statistics.  Dr. Cort-Mora has 24 years of experience in education, serving with distinction as a Teacher, District Administrator, Assistant Principal, and Principal. She enjoys running, fitness, reading, and spending time with her family. Dr. Cort-Mora has two daughters attending schools in the district and is a resident of Cape Coral.

Dr. Chevoneese Anderson Thomas EdD, (Dr A T) is an Assistant Principal at Island Coast High School. Her undergraduate education was launched in Jamaica, where she earned a teaching and management degree. Her graduate and doctoral studies were accomplished at Nova Southeastern University of Florida. Prior to being an assistant principal, she served as teacher, project coordinator, marketer and data coach. She believes that school is a microcosm of the world and every student is capable of being successful. As a former classroom teacher in elementary, middle and high school serving both in regular and exceptional education, she combines business and education best practices to foster an efficient and well-managed learning atmosphere to support academic achievement for all students.

 

Mrs. Leigh Ann CainLeigh Ann Cain, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Leigh Ann Cain is the Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Island Coast High School. She grew up in Cape Coral where she attended Caloosa Middle and graduated from Cape Coral High School. She spent her first two years of college at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina before transferring to Florida Southern College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations. She completed her Master’s Degree in Ed. Leadership at Nova Southeastern University. Mrs. Cain has proudly served the Lee County School District since 2005 as a Teacher-of-the-Year candidate, Reading Coach, and Assistant Principal. Mrs. Cain is married to her college sweetheart and has two daughters – one who just graduated from Oral Roberts University and another who attends Florida State University. She is a sports enthusiast and die-hard Seminoles fan with season football tickets. She also enjoys traveling and family time.

 

Mr. Dearinger, AP Island Coast High SchoolJeremy Dearinger, Assistant Principal

Jeremy Dearinger is an Assistant Principal at Island Coast High School. Raised in Indiana he moved with his family to Florida in 2000. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan and spent nearly two decades in banking and finance before entering education in 2007. He continued his education earning a master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Adult and Career Technical Education and then a second master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. It is a great time to be a Gator here at Island Coast High School. 

 

Kathy Padilla, Assistant Principal

Kathy K. Padilla graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesilogy with Teacher Certification K-12.  She moved here from Texas in 2004, in which she taught PE and was the Head Girls Basketball Coach at North.  Kathy earned her Masters of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership.  In 2011, she became the Athletic Director while finishing out her coaching duties.  She retired from coaching in 2012, becoming the winningest girls basketball coach in North’s history.  In 2013, she became a nationally Certified Athletic Administrator through The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).  She believes that athletics is an extension of the classroom. 

 

Mr. WoodsWinston Woods, Assistant Principal

Mr. Woods is born and raised from Key Largo, Florida. He attended Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. After spending five years in banking in Akron, Ohio, he moved back to Florida in 2008 to pursue a career in education. His career began with him teaching business education, while he completed his Master’s in Education Leadership from American College of Education. Mr. Woods has a strong passion for building relationships with students to help them achieve their fullest potential. He is also a diehard Miami Hurricanes fan!
