Avery Brincat

 

Avery Brincat is one of the most accomplished student-athletes, in the brief history of Island Coast High School achieving the honor as the top ranked student in the Class of 2023.  Earlier this month, Avery received her Associates Degree from FSW.  

Coaches, teachers, administrators describe Avery as achievement-oriented, translating into improving herself and just as important, her classmates and teammates.  A three sport-athlete in Volleyball, Basketball and Track & Field, Avery is one of the most decorated athletes Island Coast has produced earning All-Star recognition in Basketball and Track & Field.  She earned All-State Honors in Javelin and will compete in Track & Field at the college level.  The recipient of the Rotary Club of South Fort Myers Student-Athlete scholarship, Avery will attend Southeastern University in Lakeland on a combined academic/athletic scholarship. At Southeastern University, Avery plans to major in Biomedical Science with aspirations of attending Medical School.

Dezmin Goodman

 

In the words of our Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Instructor Colonel Johnson, “Dezmin Goodman  excelled in all four years in the program.  His leadership management abilities were outstanding.  He had the capacity to influence and motivate others to participate in afterschool activities and make them feel good about themselves. His communication skills and mental agility allowed him to bring students together to solve problems and give solid solutions.  His character traits of duty, integrity and loyalty set him apart from his peers, thus the reason why this amazing young man will be a success in life.

As his school counselor Dr. Thuot explains that this young man, “exemplified academic excellence and servant leadership through his involvement as a student-ambassador and as a JROTC Battalion Commander

A Designated Island Coast Scholar, Dezmin received both the National African-American and National Hispanic Recognition Awards.  Dezmin achieved a perfect score on the State of Florida US History End of Course Exam earning recognition from Governor DeSantis.

Dezmin is a recipient of the, Lee County Educators Association Scholarship, the Bright Futures Florida Medallion Scholarship and  the U.S. Army ROTC Scholarship in the amount of $300,000. This gifted young man will be attending The University of Florida in the Fall to pursue a major in Medical Science envisioning a career in Neurosurgery.
